Cat in the Hat

I overheard Rich talking with the kids about Halloween costumes, and before I could come running into the kitchen with a slow motion "nooooooooooo" yell, they had decided on a theme.

Ack.
Holding my breath...
Waiting for some crazy family theme that I would have to spend lots of money on for costumes or accessories...
Waiting...

And then they announce "cat in the hat"!!!

Oh!
Well, I can make that work!

T-shirts, crazy blue hair wigs, coffee can/frisbee hat, and sweatshirt with felt circles sewn on.
I can do that!!!

And I did!

A Talk with Dad

This looks like it's all fun and games....
...until you see the whole picture.
I wonder which kid will cry first when that hose handle is accidentally pressed and someone gets squirted....

Dear Toothfairy

Brynns been writing her toothfairy.
Pen-pal style.
Long, flowing letters - full of questions.
Lots and lots and lots of questions...
Sometimes the toothfairy writes her back.
And sometimes she doesn't.
Cause lets be honest;
She *might* be a little bit busy.

Pumpkin Patch(es)

Emphasis on the plural...
HUGE emphasis on the plural.

I don't know how some parents do it.
They will go over and over and over again....and enjoy it.

I just want my kids to find their dang pumpkin and move on!

We went once as a family.
And then Maeve's class went so I took Nolan to that feild trip.
And then Cannons class went, so Nolan and I met up with that field trip.
And then...no. Just kidding.
I seriously couldn't go anymore.
Ever again.

Until next year of course....

And then we had to carve them...of course.

Can you find the guy who brings so much "life" to the house?!?!

Flush

There is not enough bleach in the world to convince me that this toothbrush is salvageable.

She's Found her Passion

I'm pretty sure she's found it.
It suits her so well too!
Outdoors...and near giant gentle animals.
And I love watching her!

Nephews

I became an auntie again.
And lucky me....it's on a day that I won't be able to forget too easily...because it's also my nephew's birthday.
Two special boys born on the same day.

Meet Deeter.
A long awaited desire of my sister's heart.

Brownie Takes a Ride

Brownie (Brynns hand selected chicken), suprised us one Sunday morning by crowing.

Twice.
Really loud.

So Brownie (did I mention he was the one that my animal loving daughter hand selected?) had to go.
And he had to go ASAP.

I tried every single option I had...
but apparently roosters are not popular?
So I had to take him back to the store we bought him.
The kids said their goodbye's.
I braved catching him, getting him in a dog crate, and taking him for "a ride".

Let's just say the he was not a happy chicken.
At all.
That was the longest 10 min drive I've ever had.
A squawking, a reaching angry rooster is not a fun travel partner.
Just saying.

And he was worth a whopping $7.

Freezer Apple Sauce

I had my first freezer canning experience.
It was easy, went well...and we're not dead yet from botulism, so I'd call it a win all around!

I used some Gravenstein apples that were not to pretty to look at {I'm an apple snob...but I earned it by living and working on an apple farm for most of my adolescent life}, and peeled for days. Then cut into smaller peices, cooked with some cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove, and whatever else I threw in, until it just mushed up.  Then I put it into jars, and put in the freezer.
Who knew it could be so easy?!?!
