End of the Year Antics

We've hit the last week of school.
With it comes the annual "burning of the books" bonfire.
And it was glorious.

There was the end of the year water fight, and Nolan just made himself right at home.

And then we had to clean out backpacks and get rid of stuff, set stuff aside to be used next year, and throw away old banana peels....

We also had the Spring Program and Awards night for school.

The kids preformed a ton of songs, recited some poetry, did a few skits, and dances that they have been working on through out the year, and the teachers presented each of them with unique awards.  One for some sort of character trait, and one for academics.
It was definitely a special night for them.

These kids finished strong last night. I watched them sing and dance, and smile and joyfully hug their teachers and give high fives to their new friends. So grateful to the Lord for this year.

And, of course, we just HAD to keep up the tradition of slurpees with the cousins on the last day of their school year.

Another Eye Injury

Day 1: Picked him up from "the Farm" and he said he bonked his eye with a shovel. By the end of the day it was looking pretty awesome.

Day 2: He woke up looking pretty bad.  Doctor thought that he got bit by one of the "creepy white house spiders".  Put him on a regimine of benedryl and ice.

Day 3: Its looking better.  At least today we can see his eyeball!

Day 4: Almost back to normal.  The bruise from the shovel injury is showing a bit more.

Day 5: Pretty much back to normal.....

Maeve is 7!

She turned 7 this year with a stuffed animal party.

I love my girl of many moods.  I love her desire to be helpful in the home.  I love her sensitive spirit.  I love that we are finally seeing the tip of a tooth that will fill the spot that has been vacant for 2 years.

Happy Birthday to my sweet little birdy!

End of the Year Struggle

It's getting closer and closer to the end of the year...and we are barely hanging on.

I think it will be a lot of fun to simultaneously clean my house, get ready for a birthday party, monitor the completion of a science project & invention project & collection project, bake a cake AND wash all the kids bedding.
{said no one ever}

Working at School

Part of the cool thing about school this year is that I have been able to sub there.
Nolan comes with me, he hangs out with the kids, he fits right in.
And I feel like I'm able to show the school how grateful I am that they've helped us be there this year.
Win. Win.
I got to be the 4/5th grade teacher for a couple days.

And then just for kicks, I tried on my "kindegarten/1st grade teacher" hat.

This paper...

...will be on our fridge.
I can't even explain the amount of tears and frustration have gone into Cannon's handwriting this year.
So proud of him for continuing to work hard at it!

The Dog Ate My Homework...

 ...and my shoes.

And my stuffed animals.
And my garage door.
And my pool cover.
And my clothes.
And my couch.

{Free dog to a good home.
Actually doesn't have to be good.
Just a home will do.
Anyone? Anyone?}

Mothers Day

The kids made me some super cute cards and crafts this year for Mothers Day.

Brynn's

 Cannon's

Maeve's

Nolan's

*and then there was the time that Nolan gave me a drawing that turned out to NOT be his own but his brothers..
true story.

I also got a bar of chocolate that turned out to be the yummiest thing I've ever had.  And now I just have to find out where it was bought.....

Finishing up Homeschool Preschool

What fun we've had!
He really seems like he has enjoyed it *most* of the time.

Here are the pictures of letters S-Z .
