Camping

We had our first camping trip for the summer.
It went very well.
Very, very well.

I thought I was going to have to be "that" mom that tethers her kid so that he doesn't run, but surprisingly, Nolan was very content just to be outside, in all that "fun" sand.

He didn't sleep well, so we didn't sleep well, but the other kids did.  We had a couple run ins with skunks (classic beach camping), but the weather couldn't have been better!

Goldilocks

Nolan got his first "real" haircut.
It was a lot, lot, lot of hair.
It wasn't supposed to be that way, but since I botched the first attempt with scissors, and then the second attempt with clippers, I had to go big and do the whole head.  It was sad....but he still looks cute!

July so far...

July is FLYING by!

We went to a birthday party where the kids got to go into the petting zoo, and do little pony rides.  It was the first time on a horse for a few of them.

They also enjoyed a little ride on a carosel.
Pure joy for them.
Pure dizziness and nausea for me.

We spent the 3rd of July watching fireworks in the middle of a cute little park in a neighborhood a few minutes from our house. It was a perfect evening, until our return trip home which took an hour...to travel less then a mile.

Nolan said "wow" to every single firework in the sky.
Every. Single. One.
I'm sure the people around us were *slightly* irritated....

We spent the 4th up at the lake with the family.  It was another perfect day! Not too hot, lots of water to play in, a little parade that the kids rode in, and fun times with family.
It's been such a great month so far! Mellow, filled with lots of small little things.
We will conquer camping next weekend...and the weekend after that.
Wish me luck.

The Littlest Sleeper

So this guy has a thing for putting the blanket over his head when he sleeps.  When he gets tired, he will wander around the house with it wrapped around his head like a shawl, so I'm guessing that he does the same thing as he falls asleep?

She Turned 8!

This one turned 8 a few days ago.

Yep.  Went from 7- legally required to sit in a car seat, to big 'ol 8 - no car seat anymore...ever. She is one happy camper!

Her choice for breakfast included lots and lots of raspberries, breakfast burritos, and cinnamon rolls.

And lots and lots of coffee for me....

She wanted a "splash" themed water party this year.  As long as it involved water, she was happy!

We set up for the party out front, and I managed to pull it all together at the last minute. I didn't have anything really planned, it was more of a spur of the moment type set up.  I don't usually do well like that, but this one turned out ok.

She was very specific about the games that she wanted to play. One involved sponge bombs, and the other water balloons.

Instead of cake, the birthday girl wanted root beer floats.  Fine by me...easy peasy.

The kids played games, did the slip and slide, and had fun in the sprinkler.
I think she had a great day...cause she slept like a rock that night!

She's my little dreamer.
My artist.
The one who can spend hours on a swing.
She's the one who turned me into a mom.
Happy Birthday Brynn!
