Ferndale Getaway

For my birthday I asked Rich to plan a weekend away for just the two of us. I needed it badly, and he planned the perfect trip.
The kids stayed with the Klines, and we left on friday, and didn't get back until Sunday.  We stayed at the Gingerbread Mansion (amazing), ate meals whenever we wanted to, and didn't eat when we didn't want to, hiked, and walked and really really enjoyed our time together.
Started the trip off perfect.  With a starbucks drink to get us there!
Checking into the mansion.  All decorated for Christmas.  So pretty!

Meanwhile, back in town...the kids went exploring at the Jelly Belly Factory!

And ate yummy meals with their friends!
We explored the old cemetary with these amazing views from the top of the hill.

Then got lost and wandered back into town to get directions to the Sitka Spruce Forrest.

The hike was amazing.  Lush and green, and we came to this eerie pond that looked like it was straight out of a movie.

 Just keepin' it real....

The whole town was decorated for christmas, and I was about ready to buy a house and move there. It was so sweet and cute!
One of the ladies at the bed and breakfast was celebrating her birthday, and she shared a cupcake with us.  Part of the fun of getting to know people you are weekending with.

Loleta Cheese Factory.  Cheese for days.  And apparently Guy Fieri says its the real deal....so there's that.
But nothing else in that poor little town besides this cheese place.
And back in So County, Brooke handles all 7 kids with skill as she conquers Costco in search of a Christmas Tree.

I loved our trip. Loved that our kids were well cared for, and that we had time away to just be together.
Can't wait until next time Ferndale!!!
